Kaitlin Bexell was born in a small town in southeastern Minnesota. She is set to graduate from Minnesota State University Moorhead in the spring of 2021 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Ceramics in the spring of 2021.
My medium of choice is clay. I find it to be as versatile and strong as my ideas but humbling when overexerted. My work is comprised of clean, repetitive patterns and forms. I find myself drawn to the possibilities created by using the multiple as it allows for compositions of small pieces to command a much larger presence. Unity is also created by using similar, but not identical, repetitive patterns on utilitarian sets to allow a clean, simplistic finish. The utility of my vessels is important to me because I want others to feel the strength and structure as they interact with the piece. My hope is that others can see the simple strength behind my vessels as they use them in everyday life.
